Frequently Asked Questions

What is the FORCE?

The Force is an elite women`s soccer team, which competes in the 41-team W-League. The league is under the umbrella of the United Soccer Leagues which consists of over 120 soccer franchises in the United States and Canada. The Force is a pro-amateur-status team that involves many NCAA, NAIA, post-collegiate,former professional, international & National Team players.

Is the W-league a professional league?

No. Although players can be paid, most are not. The W-League maintains an amateur status so that collegiate players can participate in the summer without jeopardizing their eligibility. The league is, however, the largest league for women's soccer in the nation. It is not referred to as semi-pro, or professional due to the possibility of complicating issues with collegiate eligibility. The W-League draws very many players from NCAA, NAIA, and NJCAA programs.

Where does the FORCE get their players?

The FORCE recruits players from all over the world based on playing experience, and willingness to participate in community involvement. A large group of players are based in Fort Collins and surrounding Colorado areas. The FORCE has also develop a core team of high-level players that will make Fort Collins their home so that the team can offer more to the community year-round.

Does the FORCE pay players?

No. The FORCE currently provides housing for players during the summer, and pays for travel and other expenses. The FORCE also helps players find jobs in their field, and provides numerous camps and clinics for the players to offer their knowledge and skills.

When is the season, and where do you play?

The season begins in mid-May, and lasts through mid August. The regular season is 12 games long, seven of which are played at home. The FORCE plays at the Loveland Sports Park, near I-25 and HWY 34.

Do you have open tryouts?

No. But we do have invitational tryouts. If you are a player interested in tyring out for the Force team, please contact our office.

How do you fund the Force?

Camps, clinics, seminars, 3v3 tournaments, corporate and individual sponsorship, ticket and merchandise sales, and other fundraising efforts help the Force pay for such things as travel, league fees, equipment, marketing, and administration fees.

Where did the FORCE-A-TEERS go?

Good question! The all-male cheerleading squad who made their debut in 1997 while paying to get into the games, has left town as far as we know. Any Volunteers?

Have you ever won a National Championship?

Why, yes. Thanks for asking! In 1998 the FORCE won the W-2 National Championship by defeating Cleveland Eclipse for the Central Division, and Miami and Hampton Roads in Miami for the W-2.
