The Colorado Rapids Women’s team will be operating two teams playing in the USL National Women’s League this summer. The season will run from mid-May to mid- July and the team will practice and play home games at Dicks Sporting Goods Park, in Commerce City  just to the north of Denver.

W-League

The W-league team is open to adults of any age. Formerly known as Colorado Force, the Rapids Women play in the Western Division of the United Soccer League’s National Women’s League. The 30 team competition features teams from the United States and Canada and attracts players from across the world. Split into 5 Divisions, competing for play off spots in the National Tournament, the Rapids Women play in the Western Division against teams from Colorado, California and Canada and has one National Championship to their name.
 

Super 20’s

The Rapids Women Super 20 team plays in the Colorado Division of the USL’s National tournament. The team is open to players aged 17-20 ( born after 1.1.92 ), this team acts as a feeder team for the W-League squad. 

We will be conducting tryouts jointly for both teams at Dicks Sporting Goods Park on April 7th and 8th. Players who are interested in trying out for the team should try to attend both days but we understand that you may have other soccer commitments and so please come to either day.

Clitnovici returns to the Force for his second time, he was involved with the Colorado Force Super 20’s as both an Assistant and Head Coach in 2009 and 2010. Daniel’s background includes playing experience in Australia and Europe, as well as coaching experience as the Assistant Coach at Rocky Mountain College in Montana, Billings, and the Technical Director for Northern Colorado Soccer Club in Greeley, Colorado. Daniel Clitnovici holds both Australian Soccer Federation and United States Soccer Federation National Coaching accreditations.

I feel that with the right mentality on all fronts, we can strive for success as a club, as a team and for the players that will play with the Force”.  “I’m a big believer in player development and I feel that if we can build a competitive side and lay down a solid foundation then the Colorado Force can be a platform for many players dreaming of developing further as soccer players and even open doors to professional soccer careers as it has done in the past”.

Team owner, Amy Snider, adds “It is good to have Daniel returning to our organization, he brings a level of commitment and enthusiasm, which I feel will be very beneficial to our returning and new players. It is an exciting time for women’s soccer following the World Cup and heading into the Olympic year, there are so many strong players in the game, it is great to continue to provide a high level team for women here in Colorado”.
